Prevelle Silk is one of the latest entries in the soft tissue filler category. This hyaluronic acid gel-based filler got a nod from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 2008 for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles such as nasolabial folds.
Hyaluronic acid is a chief component of our connective tissues. Our natural supply of hyaluronic acid tends to dwindle as we age, but hyaluronic acid-based fillers, including Prevelle Silk, can plump up facial lines and folds.
As is the trend now, Prevelle Silk contains the local anesthetic lidocaine, making the injections less painful right off the bat. Other hyaluronic acid products such as Restylane, Juvederm XC, Perlane and Hydrelle are also in on this new approach to injectable fillers. The lidocaine numbs the treatment area almost instantaneously, making the Prevelle Silk injection much less painful without compromising the results.
